All Saints’ Church (C of E) in the Diocese of St Albans, is one of Hertfordshire’s most beautiful ancient churches. It was founded in 1215 and many visitors are attracted to it throughout the year, not least to view the tomb of Edmund of Langley, the first Duke of York. However, despite its history, the church seeks to be a modern active church community in the 21st century. It currently has a Mission Action Plan (MAP), focusing on - deepening the spirituality of the congregation, developing its work with children and families, fundraising for church and community, working with community organisations in promoting services for older people and raising awareness of poverty, justice and peace issues. The liturgical tradition is inclusive liberal catholic and a local ministry team is developing the church’s welcome ministry.
Our usual Sunday service is the 9.30am Family Eucharist with Sunday School but, on the third Sunday of the month, we have an All Age Eucharist at 9.30am and Church in the Wild at 11.15am – with coffee served every week in the church hall from about 10.45am.
All Saints is a church in the multi-parish Benefice of Langelei comprising All Saints, Kings Langley, St Mary’s Apsley End, St Benedict’s Bennetts End and Holy Trinity, Leverstock Green. For more information about the benefice visit

Dear friends,
A massive thank you to our sponsors and volunteers for another amazing Beer and Fizz festival! It was great to see even more people than last year in the church. I had some great chats with people about all the other things we do as a church and our Reordering project. I hope you did too! We don't yet have a final figure but we'll share it when we do. A special thank you to the Beer Festival Committee of Jamie Brockhurst, Steve Parry, Simon Pilling and Sarah Wragg, ably chaired by Chris Hughes.
Onwards into autumn!
For Harvest Festival this Sunday we are celebrating with two contrasting services: a family Service at 9.30am, with activities for children and a presentation of harvest gifts. Please bring Donations for the foodbank if you are able; at 4.30pm there will be Choral Evensong, with traditional language and settings sung by the choir: an opportunity for contemplation and reflection. Choral Evensong is a different kind of worship to our usual style and many people find it a good 'way in' to church, finding it less demanding than more participatory services. Perhaps you can invite a friend of family member? Come and be, come and receive. And of course, Choral Evensong is followed by fizz and cake!
The collection plate will be out as normal as you arrive in the morning and in the afternoon. I particularly encourage you to make a donation or join the Parish Giving Scheme at Harvest time as we thank God for what we have. Not only are donations and regular giving important for us to keep All Saints going, they also enable us to keep it growing, and to be generous to other causes. If you would like to find out more about Planned Giving check out the poster below.
Please make sure you have the Licensing Service for Revd. David Jones in your diary: 7.30pm Tuesday 14th October at St Mary's Apsley. David will serve in our Team Ministry and have special responsibility for St Mary's and St Benedict's, including the partnership there with Soul Survivor. Come along and support him and his family, and the churches, as we take this new step forward together. And meanwhile keep them all in your prayers.
With my love and prayers for you,
Fr. James
