Christian Aid’s Christmas appeal focuses on the Democratic Republic of Congo, the second-largest country in Africa, which has been the centre of one of the world’s longest-running conflicts. The story of Chance features in the appeal, one of many thousands who, with their children, have had to flee the violence. She is now in Katashola camp for displaced people, but her children are hungry and at risk of malnutrition and malaria. Christian Aid is working with a local partner to give emergency cash grants to those who have had to leave their homes. We will be collecting for this appeal in The Marlowes on 12 December (you are welcome to join us) with two local schools who will be singing carols and at ‘Carols in the Village Garden’ on 20 December.
